After a few minutes perusing the 2009 Ratebeer Best I was pleasantly surprised to see that Minnesota owns three spots in the list of top 100 breweries in the world. Not only the top 100, but all are in the top 50! Just barely out of the top 25! Surly at #9, Town Hall at #18 and Barley John’s at #26. It’s nice to see some recognition for what we’ve all known for a long time; Minnesota is a Grade A beer destination.

Or another way to look at it, the only area in the world with a greater density of top breweries is southern California! Yay us!
